Uberoi qualifies
With her father, Mahesh, frequently calling out from
behind the sideline fence, "Come on, Tiger," Shikha Uberoi, 21,
of Boca Raton, qualified for her first Grand Slam by defeating
Vilmarie Castellvi 6-4, 6-2.
It's the first time since 1996 that a woman of Indian heritage (Laxmi
Poruri) has been in the main draw of the Open and no Indian
woman has won a round here since Poruri in 1989.
Shikha and her 18-year-old sister, Neha, both were in
qualifying, but Neha lost in the first round.

DEAR DR. MURRAY!!!
How are you? I believe you are in London now. I wanted to tell
you that I won two 10k events back to back. It was great!!! I
was in complete control of my mind and completely relaxed. I
wanted to thank you for your support and belief in me. Thanks
for everything.
